Share Hope with Your Fellow Community Members As always, thank you for your commitment to supporting parks in Truckee Meadows! Because of you, outdoor spaces have remained a place of healing and hope for individuals of all ages. In 2020, your gift has helped over 4,000 citizens utilize our free and low-cost programs and connected over 2,000 student stewards to STEAM education. In 2021, it is projected that we will reach 2,500 students through the Student Stewards Program and 600 children through our Junior Naturalist Program. Your donation is inspiring the next generation of hikers, runners, bicyclists, bird watchers, and nature enthusiasts! If you would like to learn more about our work or how you can register for our upcoming programs, please visit our website here. Get outside with your family during our Winter Hike Series and explore some of Reno's local parks at your own pace! Free hot drinks and snacks will be served. The next walk will take place at Idlewild Park on March 13th from 9-12am! If interested, you can contact cara@tmparksfoundation.org for more information. -Camille Iannacchione Membership Coordinator VISTA, camille@tmparksfoundation.org |

Hello there, I'm Bridget, a NJ native! Prior to joining the team, I served an AmeriCorps term with Our City Forest in San Jose, CA. I most recently returned from Peace Corps Senegal where I served as an Agroforestry volunteer. You’ll probably catch me sniffing lavender and petting Norfolk Island Pines in my downtime. Currently, I am pursuing a Masters degree in International Environmental Policy. When my AmeriCorps service term is finished, I will hopefully start a summer internship before moving to Monterey, California to complete my studies! When asked how she gives back to her local parks, she emphasized, "Studies have shown that when plants are spoken to kindly, they grow strongly! Therefore, when in parks, I try to be mindful of how to speak to those around me and encourage the plants to keep up their important work!" |

Transitioning to Cyberspace: Adventures in SSP |
|
|
Check out our latest blog on how the Student Stewards Program has gone virtual! Our educators create and provide all kinds of programs for our local community. Ordinarily, we would be able to hold such things as our Junior Naturalist Program and our in-class lessons in person, but we have adapted. Through our new programs, we have reached almost 300 students! Learn more here on our blog. |

To make potpourri, you'll need a lot of natural elements. So first, go into your backyard or favorite park in Reno and see what you can find! Supplies you'll need: - Oven
- Sheet pan
- Parchment paper
- Items from your backyard, especially flowers
- Lemon slices, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, thyme, mint (to enhance smell)
- Essential oils (to enhance smell)
- Bowl or jar to store in
Once you have your supplies, you'll need to preheat your oven to 200 degrees, place parchment paper on your pan, and bake for 2 hours. If you would like the directions emailed to you, please reach out to Camille at camille@tmparksfoundation.org. |
