Comstock Park is a 5-acre Reno park with a restroom (opened seasonally: late April-early October, weather permitting).

Park Amenities:

Playground, soccer/football field, baseball/softball field, basketball court, pathways, bike path, picnic shelters, rentable shelters, and tables/benches.

Comstock Park History

Comstock Park is part of the Double Diamond neighborhood which had formerly been the Double Diamond Ranch. This ranch was owned by Wilbur D. May and had previously been part of Louis Damonte ranch. The Double Diamond Ranch held 1,500 head of cattle on 2,200 acres, and was known for having the best quarter horses in Nevada.

The ranch was managed by H.M. “Rich” Richardson. The name Double Diamond is said to have come from Wilbur May’s initials “W.M.” which look like two diamonds when written with the “M” over the “W.”

Damonte Housing Project

The Damonte Ranch housing project began in 1979 when Reno experienced a major housing shortage. The Nevada Central Holding company then proposed a residential community of 6,000 units on 2,200-acres. At that time the land was classified as meadow, with Steamboat Creek running through the fields of alfalfa and hay.
